They heard some scenes at first draft, which created too much feedback. I then held off reading at group unless I had second or third draft material. Then the feedback was more relevant and specific. So they've seen my writing at its most awkward. I just started on a new manuscript, and the group really tore it apart, especially the organization! We feel comfortable with each other, so it's O.K. It'll be stronger for the serious critiquing.http://solowomenathomeandabroad.blogspot.com/https://www.blogger.com/profile/00116246897231606697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102623923329719653.post-85110593478393413232015-02-13T02:00:56.175+02:002015-02-13T02:00:56.175+02:00I wait until I am unable to solve problems for mys...I wait until I am unable to solve problems for myself, usually around 3rd or 4th draft. I've found that people tend to focus on the surface levels (typos, confusing word choice, and stuff that I can find for myself usually) if there's too many of them and won't go deeper. What I need is abstract problems and issues like continuity errors, a satisfying ending, believable and interesting character growth, etc. Sometimes, (rarely) if I'm struggling with a decision, I'll try to get someone to read it and put their opinion in during the process, but that doesn't happen often.Davelerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11144628296824568015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102623923329719653.post-76302801505590023562015-02-12T14:07:50.726+02:002015-02-12T14:07:50.726+02:002nd draft complete.
